Information Technology (Business) degree teaches the relationship between people and technology in the organizational environment. Area experts evaluate, develop and implement information and communication methods to improve business processes and improve the overall performance of the organization. Their focus is to measure the effects and changes of operational activities after the implementation of new information technology. Heriot-Watt University offers analytical, practical and theoretical courses that combine MSc Information Technology (Business) business management and software engineering studies. Design and development of IT systems, data and IT management, business organization and strategy, project leadership and e-commerce.
The program does not prioritize computer programming, but seeks to develop graduates with well-developed analytical and project management skills that enable them to become effective communicators / managers working between software developers and business strategists. In some cases, the MSc project may be undertaken in collaboration with an external industrial or educational institution. Graduates from this program are eligible for employment with IT companies, company R&D departments, financial services companies, defense contractors or government IT agencies or can enroll for a PhD. Students will also receive PGDip and PGCert awards in this course. Graduates can find jobs in the field of IT security consultants, integrated information systems analysts, data mining developers, data warehouses and business intelligence consultants and more.
