At the University of Wollongong Master of Teaching Secondary program designed for undergraduate students in non-teaching subjects who want to be teachers of seven to twelve high schools. Upon completion of this grade, you will receive a formal qualification that qualifies to teach specialized subject areas for students aged 13 to 18 in public, private and religious schools. Studying in Australia this grade produces high quality teachers with an understanding of classroom diversity and strong connections to school communities. The program focuses on teaching skills by building a customized immersion program in your first lesson, as well as regular professional experience sessions throughout the degree. You will complete 60 days of great experience, including the option to complete one PEX in a rural or remote area for new southern herds. There are also opportunities to make international diving plans there, even though they are not classified as PEX, allowing you to travel abroad, visit schools and improve your understanding of people and cultures.
Your learning will be supported by online tutorials, forums, podcasts and video lectures, campus tutorials and school activities. You will benefit from local teacher expertise and workshops to improve your skills in networking, technology-based teaching, working with parents, designing experiments and conducting school-based research. During your degree you will explore teaching and learning concepts to build your technical skills in your chosen teaching areas. The teaching areas include: English, Mathematics, Science, Visual Arts, Music, Modern or Ancient History, Geography, Society and Culture or Aboriginal Studies, Legal Studies and Business Studies or Economics. The methods provided are subject to demand, which means that not all verifiable alternatives will be provided from year to year.
