Deakin University's Master of Cyber Security (Professional) is designed to enhance the unique cyber security skills gained through the Master of Cyber Security by providing students with the opportunity to undertake an industry-based learning or research project under the guidance of our internationally recognized research staff. In Australia, the course prepares you for various roles of security within business, government and law enforcement by combining technical courses in program security, digital focus and analysis of organizational security, management and policy skills. The biggest challenge facing governments and organizations is how to deal with the dramatic increase in the number and complexity of cyber-attacks that result in huge losses to business, government and society. Dealing with cyber-attacks is interwoven with various organizations and government departments, in terms of technical, legal and ethical issues. Having expertise in cyber security capabilities is critical to the continued success of our digital future. This course works well for undergraduate graduates with the same discipline, in the information or computer technology field.
Cyber Security or IT Security specialists protect sensitive information of organizations from different sectors, such as banking, retailing, health, education, communications, etc. As a Cyber Security expert, you are responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and improving security infrastructure. Cyber Security specialists install firewall, monitor network operations, store data and execute and implement security policies and procedures. If there is a web security breach, the experts immediately fix it and find ways to prevent future attacks. Some skills you need to develop in order to become an effective IT security expert to analyze and troubleshoot, make decisions, plan and manage time, pay attention to data, communicate and design. After graduation, Cyber Security students get a job as cryptographers, data security managers, security engineers, entrance examiners, security experts, security managers, behavioral hackers, etc.
