The Internet of Things (IoT) explores the electronic and computer systems we use most in our daily lives, from cars and dirty phones to washing machines and airplanes. This large growth area is in great need of an increasing industry of computer engineers and scientists with extensive experience in integrated systems, and Essex’s study will equip you with advanced knowledge and practical skills in all aspects of this area. You will develop practical skills in the design, design and execution of embedded processors, as well as an understanding of current applications, technological trends and their potential impact on future applications. The degree brings together a physical object, with associated controllers, sensors and actuators that are interfaced through the Internet to other devices and ultimately to interact with human in some form. It will cover a wide range of applications including: intellectual habitation, intelligent building control, smart vehicle technology and industrial processes and study the techniques to develop software for embedded systems and robotics and technology underlying current and future wireless communications systems to understand the concepts of radio transmissions and the different types of multiple access techniques.
