Bachelor of Science (Marine and Freshwater Biology)

Designed for students interested in aquatic life, this course introduces the natural and physical processes that occur in both marine and freshwater systems. There is an emphasis on the continuity of these fluctuations throughout the transition from freshwater to fish and aquatic systems. Students develop the skills required to understand and manage such programs. At Edith Cowan University, the course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of marine and marine life, the acquisition of reading skills and the ability to detect and evaluate harmful effects in marine environments such as climate change, pollution, rehabilitation and resource management. Studying in Australia, students are learning these skills and concepts through a combination of theory, field and lab experience. The field trips undertaken in the later part of this study are particularly important for opportunities to practice vision, knowledge and firsthand learning about the environment.

Graduates of Marine and Freshwater Biology will have skills used in a variety of marine sciences in research, industry, academia and governmental organizations. This can include jobs in marine and coastal management, fisheries and fisheries research, marine biology, ecology and water resources management. After being selected graduate degrees include positions in Marine Science, Marine Specialist, Marine Park Manager, Marine Specialist, Environmental Manager, Water Supervisor, Coordinator of Water Resources, Natural Resources Scientist, Environmental Resources Manager and Fisheries Manager.
