Curtin University's excellent graduates are highly sought after across the industry, and their project-based curriculum allows you to interact with professionals in the field. There will be study tours, case studies and client projects in core subjects, to ensure when you graduate you possess a portfolio of work that demonstrates your expertise. There will also be opportunities for at least four weeks of internship in corporations, consultancies or not-for-profit sectors, as well as overseas placement, under the shadow of tutors with extensive experience in a variety of communication industries. Thus, if you’re an international student looking to pursue an undergraduate Health Sciences course in Australia with scholarship, this is the university to look towards.
This dual degree will allow you to excel in both health promotion and occupational health and safety. After graduation, you can be employed in a field incorporating one or both of these fields. First year focuses on inter-professional development and other health sciences students are also involved, while the preceding years focus on ways to promote health by creating sustainable environments, broadcasting laws advocating for healthy choices, and encouraging people to aim to achieve healthier goals. This course also gives you the necessary skills to promote risk management and assessment, and work to reduce and prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace. There will also be an on-campus health promotion campaign, while health and safety can be seen firsthand on the field-trips. By completing 350 hours in professional placements, you can hone your practical skills in both promoting health and safety organisations. This program is affiliated with the reputable Western Australian Centre for Health Promotion Research, which opens doors to participate in new and innovative health promotion research. Their trained staff bring practical and academic experience to the classrooms, incorporating practical and theoretical skills in students, making them highly sought after by employers. This course allows for strong industry links through professional training in workplaces and off-site field trips.
