Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary engineering field that combines concepts from computer engineering, electronics, automation and robotic control. For engineers at Asia Pacific University Mechatronics, they design and test a variety of automated machines from industrial systems, artificial intelligence and medical equipment, to consumer products. Since their field includes such extensive engineering knowledge, professional forensic engineers are often general engineers, rather than specialists. Engineering colleges and schools generally offer graduate degree in mechanical engineering. Students can make different choices at the graduate level. Mechatronics can also be offered as analytics engineering, electrical engineering or information technology.

Roles include designing consumer electronics, industrial machinery, robots and automation for advanced production, robotic control systems or flight selection, software and hardware development of real-time computer control systems.
