Studies in computer systems engineering at Edith Cowan University require extensive knowledge of electronic and analogue systems as well as detailed understanding of computer architecture, software design and software integration. Graduates from Australia will be able to interact with all aspects of computing from the development and application of individual microprocessors, to the design of personal, advanced or large-scale applications, as well as to internal and embedded system design, robots, and software engineering. The program focuses on the development of knowledge and skills relevant to professional engineering practice and a sound theoretical foundation, including strong practical problem solving, team work and project development. As a result, as well as having many technical and transfer skills, graduates will acquire strong analytical skills, and have the ability to lead difficult projects.
These courses provide a sound basis for mathematics, as well as for the basics of electronic and engineering terms in the first two years of study, as well as relevant computer technology and planning policies. In the last two years of study, advanced topics from both fields of computer and electronic engineering are covered including communication systems, software engineering and data networks, digital signal processing, real-time industrial control, embedded systems, and robots to prepare students for their chosen career. with the right knowledge and skills.
The first year of this course includes a set of eight standard units in all engineering honors courses. This allows students the opportunity to develop a well understanding of the various engineering procedures offered and the flexibility. If desired, to transition to another engineering course exempt of charge after the first year of study. Career opportunities include development and design of microcomputer systems, computer networks, complex real-time systems, high-performance applications, multimedia systems, and control and automation. Bachelor degree students in Engineering get jobs as Computer Systems Engineer, Electronics Engineer and Embedded Systems Engineer.
