The Bachelor of engineering (Civil) Honors course is designed to equip qualified professionals in a broad range of fields of civil engineering including research, land engineering, engineering, structural analysis and construction, hydrology, transportation engineering, and construction and management technology. During study at Edith Cowan University The program focused on developing knowledge and skills relevant to professional engineering practice, as well as a sound foundation, including strong practical problem solving, team work and project design. As well as having extensive technical and transfer skills, graduates will gain critical analytical skills, as well as the ability to lead challenging projects.
In Australia, this course provides a sound foundation in mechanics, mathematics, and engineering design principles in the first two years of study, as well as basic areas of mechanical engineering including materials, mechanical engineering and computer-assisted design, electrical engineering, and thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. For the last two years of study, a range of specialized medical engineering topics are compiled to prepare students to enter their chosen profession with the right knowledge and skills. The first year of this course includes a set of eight standard units in all engineering honors courses. This allows students the chance to develop a better understanding of the various engineering methods offered and the flexibility, if desired, to transition to another engineering / engineering course free of plenty after the 1st year of study.
Graduates will have expertise in all major areas of civil engineering, and be able to participate and lead complex, diverse projects. Civil engineers have strong employment opportunities in many sectors of the industry, including road and transportation, construction, mining and utilities, community services, defense and consulting.
