Automotive engineering is a sub-field in the Engineering and Technology field that focuses on the development of new vehicles or finding ways to improve the current technology of machinery and systems. Automotive engineering is something that involves knowledge from other fields, such as Electrical, Mechatronics, and Science Equipment. Motorsport is a testament to the future of the automotive industry. This education is very similar to a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering but with a particular emphasis on improving vehicle management and automotive efficiency. The most successful records in the IMechE formula Student Competition have established the University as one of the most important motorsport engineering providers in the country and this accredited grade provides the first steps to get chartered engineer status.
This degree in Automotive Engineering and Motorsport will provide you with the opportunity of motorsport from the first year on, if you wish to become involved in the design, construction and racing of a single-car race in the UK formula Student Competition. Your studies will reflect the latest industry trends as the School is supported by a Vehicle Advisory Panel which includes representatives from many well-known car companies; Hertfordshire Engineering Automotive and Motorsport students previously completed years of work placements at companies including: McLaren Automotive, Mercedes-Benz Grand Priz Limited and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains; BEng courses include an extra year and will provide you with a broader and deeper understanding of the subject. The recent graduates of Automotive Engineering have continued to work at organizations including: Grand Prix Engineering, McLaren Racing Limited, and Renault Sport.
