The university campus is about 500 acres in size and is located to the south-east of the city of York. Campus West, the original campus, consists of the York Science Park and the National Science Learning Centre, and the natural beauty around is a sight to behold. The university was granted permission to build an extension to its main campus in 2007, just east of the village of Heslington. In 2009, they opened their second campus, Campus East, which now consists of three colleges and Numerous events, trips and activities are organized by the staff for students.
