There is a vibrant international community of nearly 30,000 students from over 144 countries who come and study at Sheffield which creates a diverse and rich community. It is known for its first-class teaching across a wide range of disciplines, including arts and humanities, engineering and medicine.
Also, the city is the fourth biggest in the UK. So, with lots of outdoor space, including over 200 parks, beautiful gardens and woodland such as the Sheffield Botanical Gardens it is a mystery how it is still one of the UK’s most affordable student cities.

There is also an International Faculty in Greece. Students studying at the ISC study in small class sizes with teachers experienced in helping students learn in a second language.
The university has also invested in the state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces such as the Diamond, a multidisciplinary teaching facility, with 2,540 study spaces, nine lecture theatres, a jet engine control room, a machine shop, and a virtual reality suite.
There are five libraries which offer 24/7 study facilities, each with different working environments including silent study spaces, research collections, social spaces and cafés. There are 1.3 million books and journals to choose from, with a further 435,000 e-books and e-journals. Other than that, rare books, archives, manuscripts and photographs are also accessible.
The university’s Health Service offers healthcare to all registered student and is conveniently close to university buildings. Moreover, free, confidential counselling service is given for students at the university so they have the opportunity to talk and reflect with fully trained counselling specialists
Many courses feature alumni and guest lecturers who provide vital insight to students about their profession or industry. Moreover, there are nearly 400 different societies and sports clubs to choose from. The Give It A Go scheme that they have in place allows students to sample different clubs and activities on a pay-and-play basis.
The Careers Service starts helping students from the first year of a student's degree. They do so by helping them work out what they want to do and how to get there. The specialist advisers show students what employers are looking for and how to market themselves so they set up meetings with employers offering placements, jobs and work experience.
The service also runs Jobshop, which is a walk-in service based in the Students' Union, which advertises vacancies for students regarding part-time and full-time job opportunities. This Union itself employs over 500 students every year.
