The University of Maine (UMaine or UM) is a public research university located in Orono, Maine, United States. The university was established in 1865 as a land grant college and is referred to as the Flagship University of the University of Maine System. Having an enrollment of approximately 11,000 students, University of Maine is the largest university in the state and is the only institution in Maine classified as a research university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education The university prides itself on quality academics, superior faculty, innovative research, and traditions of academic and athletic excellence. Some of the country’s most spectacular destinations including Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and Mt. Katahdin are within easy reach.
International Study Center (ISC) at the University of Maine (UMaine) deliver the International First Year (IFY) and Pre-Master’s Program (PMP) for undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as recruitment for direct entry into all University of Maine academic programs.
