The Bond University is a private not-for-profit university located in Robina, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Bond differs from other Australian universities as it schedules three semesters each year, commencing in January, May and September, allowing a six-semester degree to be completed in two years, instead of three, without increasing semester workloads.
The Bond University was established in 1987 when the Parliament of Queensland granted it university status via the passage of the Bond University Act. The University commenced teaching in May 1989 with an initial intake of 322 students.
Bond University is recognised as an accredited Australian university by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). In Australia, education and training is a shared responsibility of all Commonwealth, State and Territory governments. Education, training and employment ministers collectively own and are responsible for the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Bond University is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and Universities Australia, and is a signatory to the Provision of Education to International Students Code of Practice and Guidelines for Australian Universities, April 2005.The 2013 Good Universities Guide rates Bond University the most five stars out of any university in Australia for educational experience.
