The program is designed to train engineers to work on analyzing and translating images and video. It incorporates low-level image processing and high-quality translation, using state-of-the-art machine learning methods. You will do detailed research on machine learning, both in particular and in particular by analyzing visual data. You will also learn computer vision. You can choose from modules of choice in subjects such as computer animation, data mining or processing, AI, image processing, digital media and social media. QMUL’s excellent links will allow you to build your network with industry and potential employers and have opportunities to collaborate on commercial and research projects. The school has partnerships, partnerships, industry placement programs and community engagement programs with organizations, including Vodafone, Google, IBM, BT, NASA, BBC and Microsoft. You will invent and do a great dissertation, which you can do in partnership with an industrial partner.
Your skills and knowledge will be invaluable to every industry that needs good analysis and image and video translation. These include industries in related fields, such as multimedia targeting and retrieval (e.g. Google, Microsoft), travel capture (e.g. Vicon), media production (e.g. Sony, Technicolor, Disney), medical imaging, safety and security (e.g. Qinetiq), robots, and industries in related fields that require a good knowledge of machine learning, signal processing and programming. Most of the students have regular research projects with industry partners such as Disney, BBC, Technicolor and STMicroelectronics, and do consulting work with the industry. You will also be well placed to do further research, including continuing PhD studies.
