The Bachelor of Science (Biological Science) at Edith Cowan University course provides a solid foundation in the natural sciences such as physiology, genetics, zoology, plant science and Microbiology. It is designed to be hands-on, developing problem-solving skills through effective learning, and given an early appreciation of how multidisciplinary approaches can be addressed. As well as getting basic training in the basics through majoring in biology, you can add scope to your degree by choosing a minor from integrated training (e.g. Chemistry) or deepening your biological skills with a specialized minor such as biotechnology. You will hear some of the most advanced laboratories and fieldwork opportunities in Australia and will be taught by senior staff in their field of study abroad. You will stay and interact with the real world, as guest lectures, site visits and integrated learning work opportunities bring a strong industry flavor to the level.
The context used for the study will mean that the graduates have a clear understanding of the concept underpinning the natural sciences combined with skills that can be applied to a variety of disciplines. Students benefit from a learning environment inspired by world-class research academics with strong industry and governmental links. Biology is the study of living and living things: animals, insects, plants, and microbes; everything that breathes, grows and nourishes us. Biologists are curious about all these things and want to know how they work, how to grow and protect them - how to interact with life on this planet.
Bachelor of Biological Science Graduates have a variety of career opportunities available across all biology sciences. Active focus ensures graduates are ready for a range of fields in such fields as ecology, genetics and physiology, environmental monitoring and environmental impact assessments such as: Nature Conservator, Biodiversity Manager, Biomedical Researcher, Conservation Officer Physicist, Environmental Advisor, Resource Officer and Conservation Officer.
