Study at La Trobe University, Australia Gather your knowledge of international politics, economics and communications with international law. Your studies on international relations will give you an insight into the social, political and economic impact of global events. You can take control of socialism, the world economy, communication, modern political thought, social change and conflict. Your legal studies will include basic principles of Australian law, civil litigation, property, contract and constitutional law. You can also apply your study methods in areas such as human rights law, international law and international crime. As you progress, you will have the opportunity to complete additional courses including Honors in Laws and clinical practice at a law firm. You can also take the topic of international relations placement, which will prepare you for fieldwork, and take part in foreign exchange competitions or our winter school lesson in Shanghai.
With this qualification All courses for the La Trobe University Bachelor of Laws and Juris Doctor include the courses required by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board to obtain admission to the lawful occupation in Victoria as an Australian attorney. Admission to the legal profession by the Victoria Supreme Court also requires the completion of practical legal training either up to 12 months of Supervised Legal Training or by completing approved legal courses (for example, at the Leo Cussen Institute or The College of Law). Eligible candidates must also satisfy the Information Board that they are a fit and proper person to be allowed to practice. International graduates will need a valid visa to complete a formal internship in Australia. It is advisable to obtain confirmation of the admission of this course by the appropriate bodies in your preferred country.
