If you are motivated by great engineering success, this course is for you. As part of your first year of study, you will develop a solid foundation in basic science and engineering principles, practice and management. You will learn about different areas of engineering, to help you determine where your love for engineering lies. You will learn about current industry trends from passionate students who are leaders in their fields. UOW degree is very focused on implementation and from your first year offers you the opportunity to develop practical skills as our teaching focuses on practical learning. From your second year you will learn your favorite major and focus on your chosen area. UOW maintains strong links with the industry that ensure the degrees are relevant and benefit from the traveling teachers as well as engaging in real-time engineering projects. During your final year you will take these skills and work with your Industry Partners in Australia or abroad to create a long-term project through Industrial Partnership Program. Student will graduate as a well-rounded, qualified professional with a background in engineering and is eager to take advantage of a variety of opportunities in Australia and other countries.
Civil engineers provide to the needs of the people, and specialize in planning, building, constructing and maintaining buildings that impact on modern life. They understand how natural processes, including water and air, and how structures of all kinds can withstand loads. They work with buildings, bridges, roads, ports, dams, airports, coastal protection, water supply and public health. Civil engineers use their theoretical knowledge to produce efficient and economical institutions that excite the beauty and satisfy the needs of the community. They have mathematical and physics skills and a desire to meet environmental and technological challenges. Students can study in the fields of structural engineering, transportation engineering, geomechanics, hydrology and public health engineering, or administration, construction and economics.
