Chemical engineering controls are mainly affected by the knowledge of how chemical substances interact, or they can be somehow transformed into a more useful form, as part of the processing, manufacturing or refining process. In Australia, Chemical Engineers work in a variety of domains ranging from mining, oil and gas to the textile, food, transplant, fertilizer, pharmaceutical, and many other manufacturing and pest control industries. Courses provide a sound foundation in mechanics, mathematics, and engineering design principles in the first two years of study, as well as basic areas of engineering science including chemical science and materials, flow equipment, process processes and thermodynamics. In the last two years of study, a range of technical chemical engineering topics is calculated including process design, operation and control, preparing students to apply their chosen work with the right knowledge and skills. The first year of this course includes a set of eight standard units in all engineering honors courses.
