Course Details

Economics is an approach in the field of Social Science that studies how goods and services are manufactured, distributed, marketed and used. Economics also aims to improve resource allocation and create stable and predictable markets that ensure citizens can lead productive lives. Economists also analyze human behavior in an effort to find patterns and predict financial decisions based on factors such as risk and reward. Economics has two sub-courses. The first is Microeconomics, and it analyzes the interactions between various economic agencies. Macroeconomics, second, examines the whole of the public economy.

The University of Essex has a unique capacity for public policy actions to promote and manage the economy, including ethical ways of getting messages across. You can combine the study of health and social economics with development economics to gain a broader perspective on how one might respond to threats such as balancing domestic needs with global needs. Economic recovery is likely to be one of the most pressing and urgent challenges right now and studying for economics gives you the unique tools you can take on the challenge, find a solution, and improve your well-being. The study of economics provides you with a greater understanding of the world around you. It teaches you how the economy works, how people make decisions, why economic disaster strikes and what the different solutions are. Economics in Essex is not just about stocks, stocks and financial markets; it is concerned with the physical well-being of human communities.

This course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of economics, including microeconomics, as well as relevant research and statistical methods. Examine people's decisions, firms' strategies and people's policies to understand and challenge common economic rules. BSc Economics provides you with a great degree of flexibility, giving you the freedom to look at a wide range of areas that inspire you.
