Our BA Business Economics provides you with the theoretical and practical skills you need to understand and apply the financial decisions made by business, management and financial professionals. This call is a collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and the Essex Department of Commerce, allowing you to get a holistic view of the business world and to bring in more economic, management and organizational skills.

A Business Economics degree prepares you to work in all areas of economics. Specifically, your degree combines economics and a variety of business and financial disciplines, helping you gain knowledge of business and environmental issues as well as current business problems. The Essex degree offers both creative thinking and technical skills with practical applications in business and society. As economists work in many settings, you will be preparing yourself for a job in government departments, local government, companies and organizations, and in the financial services industry (for example forecasting) in the graduate role you want.

Our Department of Economics is the top 5 in the UK for research, with over 90% of our research being rated as "best in the world" or "best in the world" (REF 2014). Your education is inspired and informed by this pioneering research, in order to graduate with strong economic training. The course is jointly taught by Essex Business School, which counts 25 of the UK's top research institutes (REF 2014). They work with good management and good business ethics while giving you the tools for successful business operations.
