Biology is a discipline with a wide range of applications that cover many areas of human activity. You will learn life at all levels from molecules, through organelles and cells, to all creatures. You will acquire the technical, analytical and operational skills needed to investigate the biological phenomena of microbes, plants, human beings and other animals. The Biological Science program offers flexibility and a wide range of options to study. The first year provides a solid foundation in all aspects of biology including topics in fields such as physiology, biochemistry, genetics and cell biology. It also gives you the opportunity to start developing your practical laboratory skills. For the second and final year you can choose from modules from all of our bioscience courses depending on your specific interests. This degree provides a stepping stone to various fields of scientific activity, including teaching. You will have the opportunity to study abroad or take a year placement job, which will boost your performance. Finally, you will gain the technical, analytical and operational skills needed to investigate the biological phenomena of microbes, plants, humans, and animals. This grade is approved by the Royal Society of Biology.
